When committing a theft a criminal typically makes an effort not to leave any evidence behind.
That wasn’t the case in a recent Lower Milford Township case Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville are now attempting to solve.
According to a news release issued by police Monday, the theft occurred at a mailbox in the 5500 block of West Mill Hill Road sometime between 11:30 a.m. April 24 and 7:15 a.m. April 25.
The owner of the mailbox was expecting to retrieve two packages of lug nuts valued at approximately $38 from it, but instead found only an empty McDonald’s bag stuffed inside, according to police.
Inside the bag police said they found a receipt from the McDonald’s at 502 Pottstown Avenue in Pennsburg which was timestamped 6:41 p.m. on April 22.
“A review of the McDonald’s surveillance showed a silver in color, four-door sedan that was identified as an early 2000s Volkswagen Passat,” police said.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle was determined to be a white, non-Hispanic male in his late teens or 20s, but that “no further information could be obtained due to video quality.”
