Local Schools Awarded $3.1 Million to Boost Security, Mental Health

More than $3.1 million will be distributed to nine school districts in Lehigh and Northampton counties to help improve safety, security and mental health initiatives in local schools, state Sen. Nick Miller’s (D-14) office said Monday. The funding from the Pennsylvania School Safety and Security Committee will be disbursed to the Allentown, Catasauqua Area, Whitehall-Coplay, Parkland, Northern Lehigh and Salisbury Township school districts in Lehigh County and the Northampton Area and Nazareth Area school districts in Northampton County.

“Investing in our schools to keep our students safe and mentally healthy is pivotal to their success,” Miller said in a statement. “Being proactive and providing these resources early in our students’ education is critical.”

“I will continue to advocate on behalf of our students and staff, so they have the best support available,” he added.

Allentown Area School District will receive $402,404, Catasauqua Area School District will receive $155,400, Whitehall-Coplay School District will receive $200,526, Parkland School District will receive $693,355, Northern Lehigh School District will receive $597,649, Salisbury Township School District receive $154,481, Northampton Area School District will receive $662,429 and Nazareth Area School District will receive $207,398.
