The Northampton County Department of Community and Economic Development is refurbishing old county-owned laptops to donate to public-facing employees such as healthcare workers in need of digital devices via organizations located within the county. The new program will improve online access among those most in need, including employees at nonprofits, schools and municipalities, County Executive Lamont McClure said.

“Our goal is a path to digital equity and ensuring every county resident has sufficient access to the internet,” he said.

The giveaway program stems from a partnership between the county and the National Inclusion Alliance, which is providing digital navigator training to prepare Northampton County volunteers to help those needing digital assistance with locating free and low-cost internet options, as well as provide one-on-one or small-group digital skill development training.

Organizations interested in receiving a refurbished device can contact the Northampton County Department of Community and Economic Development at 610-829-6306 for more information.
