The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) have announced four women leaders as recipients of the 2025 Take the Lead Lehigh Valley award. Honorees Lori A. Alfonse, DO, MaryEllen Dickey, CFRE, Corinne Goodwin and Carolina Hernandez will be recognized at a special event on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Wind Creek Bethlehem.
The Take the Lead award celebrates women who embody the Girl Scouts’ mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character. Each honoree is a leader in her industry and community, and has demonstrated a commitment to service and positive role modeling.
Dr. Alfonse is Deputy Physician in Chief at Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute and is recognized for her patient-centered approach to breast cancer treatment. She prioritizes establishing trust with patients and alleviating their fears through her leadership. Dickey, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Da Vinci Science Center, brings over 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience to her role in fostering financial sustainability and community impact. Goodwin, who is Founder and Executive Director of the Eastern PA Trans Equity Project, advocates for transgender equality throughout eastern Pennsylvania. Hernandez is Assistant Dean and Director of the Community Service Office at Lehigh University, where she is dedicated to fostering civic engagement and community service among students.
“Our 2025 Take the Lead Lehigh Valley honorees, through their dedication to service in their careers and their communities, truly exemplify the Girl Scout values that we live and breathe every day,” said Kim E. Fraites-Dow, Chief Executive Officer of GSEP.
The Take the Lead program is not just an awards ceremony, but also a unique leadership opportunity for Girl Scouts. High school-aged Girl Scouts will shadow each honoree for a day, gaining career insights and networking opportunities. Selected via a competitive application and interview process, participants will then present their experiences at the event.
The 2025 event will be co-chaired by Tina Hasselbusch, owner of Social T Marketing & PR, and Mary Lisicky, CFP, first vice president, financial advisor at Morgan Stanley.
