Silas J. ‘Reds’ Rodenbach (1931 – 2024)

Silas Reds RodenbachSilas J. “Reds” Rodenbach, 93, of Williams Township, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024 at Moravian Village Health Care, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Norma I. (Sandt) Rodenbach, who died March 2, 2019. Silas was born in Williams Township on Oct. 5, 1931 to the late Jacob J. and Elsie M. (Rex) Rodenbach. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Silas was a truck driver for various fuel oil companies for over 50 years. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham and a 63-year member of the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. He lived for the Saucon Valley Lions Club, where he was a member for 59 years, held every office except treasurer and was highly awarded for his years of service through volunteerism. He also served as the 14-K District Secretary and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award and Lion of PA Fellowship Award. He was also a member of Williams Township Volunteer Fire Company.

SURVIVORS

Silas is survived by his son: Silas J. (Debbie) Rodenbach Jr. of Hellertown; grandson: Jason (Briggette) Rodenbach of Lower Saucon Township; great-grandchildren: Jason Jr., Jacob, Jarrod; great-great-grandson: Wyatt. He was predeceased by sisters: Elizabeth N. Hahn (March 11, 2011), Cora M. Reichard (Sept. 15, 2022).

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to his visitation period from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The visitation period will be followed by the service at 1 p.m. The interment will conclude services at Durham Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. A funeral repast will be held at the Hellertown American Legion immediately following the graveside service.
