Southern Lehigh School News & Notes is a regular feature about recent, current and upcoming Southern Lehigh School District events and news. The Southern Lehigh School District serves approximately 3,100 students from Upper Saucon Township, Lower Milford Township and Coopersburg borough.

CALLING ALL SOUTHERN LEHIGH SENIORS! The Southern Lehigh Scholarship Application is now open. The deadline to apply is April 15. The scholarship is provided by The Southern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship fund. Two upcoming Dine & Donate events are being held to benefit the Scholarship Fund. The first is at McDonald’s in Coopersburg, 6690 Short Drive, on Wednesday, March 5 from 4-8 p.m. The second is at Red Robin in the Promenade Saucon Valley, 2845 Center Valley Parkway, on Thursday, April 10 from 5-9 p.m. To apply for the scholarship visit https://www.lehighvalleychamber.org/2024-2025-southern-lehigh-scholarship.html.

SOUTHERN LEHIGH MS STEAM EXPO: Enjoy food, fun and door prizes at the Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be presentations by the Art Club, Robotics Club and many more along with numerous Community Partner exhibits by Lehigh University Engineering, Penn State Lehigh Valley Robotics, 4H Lehigh County and others.

SOUTHERN LEHIGH MS MATH COUNTS TEAM WINS 3RD PLACE IN COMPETITION: Congratulations to the SLHS MathCounts team for placing 3rd in their recent competition. Aanya A. and Andy X. placed in the top 10 out of 160 students who competed! Special thanks to the high school student coaches.

SOUTHERN LEHIGH MS STUDENTS PERFORM WITH PMEA DISTRICT BAND & ORCHESTA FESTIVAL: Congratulations to Kasvi B., Aurora C., Paxton C., Matthew C., Evelyn H., Geo J., Liam K., Jack L., Rylan M., Maya Q. and Daphne U. for representing SLMS at the PMEA District 10 Intermediate Band and Orchestra Festival at Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem. SLSD is proud to have had them represent its instrumental music program among the best and brightest musicians in our 8-county region. 

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING: The Southern Lehigh School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 and Monday, March 10 in the Southern Lehigh High School Boardroom.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING CLOSURE: There will be no school for students on Friday, March 7.

ALUMNI STUDENTS & EDUCATION VERIFICATIONS: Southern Lehigh HS has partnered with Parchment to order and send transcripts securely as well as verify education with third party background companies. All requests must be completed using a Parchment account and payment can be made online. Alumni who have had a name change since they graduated should list the name they used while students at Southern Lehigh.

SPANISH IMMERSION PROGRAM: The program will be hosting its second parent information night on Friday, March 21 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Liberty Bell Elementary School.
