Rt. 611 Retaining Wall Project to Last 18 Months
A project to reconstruct a nearly 80-year-old retaining wall along Rt. 611 in Williams Township will begin Tuesday and is expected to be completed in September 2026, PennDOT officials said Monday.
According to a news release, the project will include the replacement of the 1946 retaining wall that supports the roadway along the Delaware Canal, along with slope restoration and reconstruction of the road itself.
Through the fall of 2025, PennDOT said the project will require traffic along Rt. 611 between Browns Drive and Saylors Lane to be reduced to a single lane, with alternating traffic control signals at either end.
The average daily volume of traffic along that section of Rt. 611 is approximately 3,500 vehicles, and motorists who drive through the area should expect delays as a result of the road work, the release said.
PKF-Mark III Inc. of Newtown is the general contractor for the $4.1 million project, officials said.
