Man Sentenced to State Prison for Sexually Assaulting Upper Saucon Girl
A 39-year-old New Jersey man will spend at least two decades in state prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Upper Saucon Township.
Spartak A. Fedorovich, of Phillipsburg, was sentenced Monday to 20 to 40 years by Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas Judge Robert L. Steinberg.
Following a November jury trial, Fedorovich was found guilty of of two counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, three counts of Statutory Sexual Assault and one count of Unlawful Contact with a Minor Involving Sexual Offenses, which are first degree felonies. According to a Lehigh County District Attorney’s office news release, he was also convicted of second-degree felony Aggravated Indecent Assault; third-degree felony Corruption of Minors and Endangering the Welfare of Children; and second-degree misdemeanor Indecent Assault of a Person Less than 16.
“Prosecutors asked for jail sentences on each of the nine felony counts the defendant was convicted of,” the release said, noting that such a sentence would have equaled 72 to 144 years in prison. Instead, it said Steinberg “imposed two sentences totaling 20 years in jail” and “no additional incarceration for the remaining seven felony counts of conviction.”
According to the DA’s office, Fedorovich was living with the victim’s mother in New Jersey when the girl’s sexual abuse began and later traveled from Phillipsburg to Upper Saucon Township “on at least 10 occasions…to sexually assault the victim.”
In October 2022, police officers were dispatched to a home in Upper Saucon Township where the district attorney said they began an investigation after learning that the girl had been in a secret sexual relationship with Fedorovich since the age of 12.
Authorities said Fedorovich currently “has charges pending in New Jersey for the same conduct against the same victim (from) when they lived in New Jersey.” Although he was a legal resident of the United States at the time the crimes occurred, the district attorney’s office said Fedorovich is a Russian citizen.
Although he will be eligible for parole at age 56, the DA’s office said Fedorovich will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. A hearing to determine the extent of his registration requirements is scheduled to be held in August.
The case was investigated by Upper Saucon Township Police Det. Matthew Faherty and the Ofc. David M. Petzold Memorial Digital Forensics Laboratory of Lehigh County with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police Cellular Analysis Technicians Unit.
