Southern Lehigh School News & Notes is a regular feature about current school district news. The Southern Lehigh School District serves approximately 3,000 students from Upper Saucon Township, Lower Milford Township & Coopersburg borough.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS: May 12 & 27, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Southern Lehigh School Boardroom, 5800 Main St., Center Valley.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025 to be registered. Registration information may be found at Slsd.org.
MEMORIAL DAY: All Schools will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.
GRADUATION: The Southern Lehigh High School Class of 2025 graduation ceremony will be held Friday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m.
READING OLYMPICS TEAM PLACES 6TH: Congratulations to the SLMS Reading Olympics team, who did well at their final competition at Whitehall High School, where they placed sixth out of 14 local middle schools. Great work, everyone!
ACADEMIC LITERACY: Mrs. Halloran’s Academic Literacy students experienced their own Ceremony of Twelve after reading about it in Lois Lowry’s The Giver. All students received individual “assignments” and each class had its own Receiver of Memory.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MEMORIAL DAY COLOR DAY: Wear red, white and blue on Friday, May 23.
PREVIOUS PARENT NIGHT LINK: For anyone who may have missed parent night events, the sixth grade and middle school presentations are available online.
SLMS 7th GRADE TRIP: This year, seventh grade will take a field trip to Coca-Cola Park to see the Lehigh Valley IronPigs vs. the Buffalo Bisons. The cost of the May 20 trip includes transportation, game ticket and a bagged lunch (hot dog, chips and water bottle). Additional card-only concessions will be available.
