Giant Signs are Missing. What Happened?

Although some may not have noticed, other customers at the Giant food store in Lower Saucon Township Friday were possibly surprised and perplexed to see that the store’s facade was suddenly sign-less.

The familiar large red lettering that was affixed to the front of the building has been removed in preparation for new Giant signage to be installed by the company, a staff member confirmed.

The Giant is the only major grocery store in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township, and is likely to become busier following news that the Rite Aid in Hellertown is closing its doors. In addition to its drugstore, the Rite Aid also sold snacks, candy and other food items within a small grocery section.

Giant Hellertown Signs
The lettering that spelled out “Drugstore” has been removed from the facade of the Giant store in Lower Saucon Township, leaving only a stain behind. A Giant employee said the signs were taken down in preparation for new signs to be installed.
Although the sign is temporarily missing, most local residents have likely had no trouble locating the Giant, which opened in 2002 and is the only major grocery store in Saucon Valley. The store is located at 1880 Leithsville Road, Hellertown.
