2025 Primary Election Results for Saucon Valley, So. Lehigh Races
Beautiful weather on Tuesday failed to entice many voters to the polls across the Lehigh Valley, where low turnout was reported at most precincts on primary Election Day. Overall turnout in Northampton County was 17.7 percent, which was slightly better than turnout in Lehigh County, where only 16.3 percent of registered Democrats and Republicans cast ballots.
In the Saucon Valley and Southern Lehigh areas, there were a number of competitive races in the primary election, which determines which candidates will appear on the November ballot. Pennsylvania has a closed primary system, which means that only registered Republicans and Democrats may vote for candidates in the primary.
The following results are unofficial and provided by the Northampton County Elections Office for competitive races in the Saucon Valley area. Names highlighted in BOLD are the unofficial winners in those races. An (I) denotes an incumbent.
Saucon Valley School Board Director
DEMOCRAT
Meghan Lomangino – 1,296 votes
J. Christian Tatu – 902 votes
Cedric Dettmar (I) – 844 votes
Shamim Pakzad (I) – 755 votes
Kenneth Bloss – 749 votes

Shamim Pakzad (I) – 692 votes
Kenneth Bloss – 461 votes
Meghan Lomangino – 413 votes
J. Christian Tatu – 321 voes
Write-in – 12 votes
What to expect: Assuming that the above results become official by being certified by the county Elections office, there will be six candidates competing for four seats on the school board in November: Cedric Dettmar, J. Barrett Geyer, Lynn Kasper, Meghan Lomangino, Shamim Pakzad and J. Christian Tatu.
Hellertown Borough Council
DEMOCRAT
Gail Nolf – 404 votes

Theresa Fadem (I) – 364 votes
Cathy Leibensperger – 342 votes
Thomas J. Rieger (I) – 337 votes
Write-in – 39 votes
REPUBLICAN
Write-in – 87 votes
What to expect: There are four open seats on Hellertown Borough Council, so unless a successful write-in candidate emerges* the winners of Tuesday’s Democratic primary will most likely win in November. An unknown that could potentially alter the race is that Theresa “Terri” Fadem resigned from council Monday to become the borough’s zoning and codes enforcement officer. Due to her resignation, council will appoint someone to fill her seat. The vacancy will ultimately be filled via special election. Fadem was also a winner in Tuesday’s Northampton County Council Democratic primary, in which she finished second among five candidates. *Hellertown resident Jason Prushinski mounted a write-in campaign for a council seat. If he or anyone else received enough votes to appear on the ballot it will be announced when the county certifies the primary election results.
Lower Saucon Township Council
DEMOCRAT
Chad G. Heimbecker – 727 votes
Hunter Gress – 681 votes
Gary W. Gorman – 469 votes
Write-in – 18 votes
REPUBLICAN
Cheyenne Reiman – 704 votes
Donna Louder – 659 votes
Kathy Pichel-McGovern – 388 votes
Curt Balch – 290 votes
Mark Ozimek – 89 votes

What to expect: If the above results are certified by the county Elections office, there will be four candidates competing for two 4-year seats on Lower Saucon Township Council in November: Hunter Gress, Chad G. Heimbecker, Donna Louder and Cheyenne Reiman.
The following results are unofficial and provided by the Lehigh County Elections Office for competitive races in the Southern Lehigh area. Names highlighted in BOLD are the unofficial winners in those races. An (I) denotes an incumbent.
Southern Lehigh School Board Director
DEMOCRAT
Kimberly Jaramillo – 2,034 votes
Josh Rager – 1,927 votes
Chris Sykora – 1,909 votes
Luis Melecio – 1,885 votes
REPUBLICAN
Christopher P. Wayock (I) – 1,457 votes
Paul Deebel – 1,434 votes
Stephen R. Maund (I) – 1,378 votes
Kimberly Jaramillo – 545 votes
Chris Sykora – 516 votes
Josh Rager – 469 votes
Luis Melecio – 288 votes
What to expect: Assuming that the above results are certified by county elections officials, there will be seven candidates competing for four 4-year seats on the Southern Lehigh School Board in November: Paul Deebel, Kimberly Jaramillo, Stephen R. Maund, Luis Melecio, Josh Rager, Chris Sykora and Christopher P. Wayock.
Upper Saucon Township Board of Supervisors
DEMOCRAT
Nicole Dolan – 1,582 votes
REPUBLICAN
Philip Spaeth (I) – 1,105 votes
What to expect: If Tuesday’s unofficial results are certified without any changes, Nicole Dolan will challenge incumbent Philip Spaeth for the open seat on the board of supervisors in November.
IN CONCLUSION: The only significant upset that appears to have occurred in the local races highlighted above is in the Hellertown Borough Council race, in which current council president Tom Rieger finished last among the five candidates in the Democratic primary. Since there are four open seats, this means that if those results become official, Rieger will not be on the ballot in the fall. For more information about the winners and losers of Tuesday’s races, visit the election results pages on the Lehigh County and Northampton County websites. Both counties provide both summary results and precinct-level vote totals.
