Dewey Carnival Organizers Issue Fundraising Appeal
The annual Dewey Fire Co. Carnival in Hellertown is scheduled to take place July 8-12, 2025, but organizers say that without an infusion of support in the form of sponsorships it’s possible the beloved event will be canceled.
“As some of you may know, the Dewey carnival has been around for over 100 years, and unfortunately due to rising costs and lack of volunteerism, we are at risk of not being able to continue this yearly community event,” fire company officials said in a Facebook post Wednesday. They also noted that the carnival is the volunteer fire company’s main fundraiser, with proceeds from it supporting operations throughout the year.
“We are in need of sponsors to help offset the cost of the spectacular, and very expensive, fireworks display as well as some of the food costs,” the post said. “Without the community’s support, we are at risk of not being able to host this event moving forward as the expenses take away from our funds used to maintain the firehouse and purchase the lifesaving equipment that serves Hellertown Borough and surrounding communities.”
With just over a month until the carnival is held, the committee is asking that donations be sent via check to: ATTN: Dewey Carnival Committee, Dewey Fire Co. 1, 502 Durham St., Hellertown, PA 18055, with ‘carnival’ noted in the memo. Specific sponsorship tiers are available and include: Chief, $1,000 and above; Assistant Chief, $500 to $999; Captain, $200 to $499; Lieutenant, $100 to $199; Firefighter, up to $99.
“No donation is too big or small,” the post said.
The carnival committee is also seek volunteers to help at the food pavilion.
Anyone who would like to volunteer should contact the Dewey Fire Co. Carnival Facebook page, reach out via the website contact form at Deweyfireco.org or message the committee via the main Facebook page at Dewey Fire Company No. 1.
In addition to fireworks, the annual carnival features rides, games of chance, food, live entertainment, a car show and more.
