Herbert F. Stelzer (1934 – 2025)

Herbert F. Stelzer Jr., 91, of Lower Saucon Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. He was the loving husband of Helen F. (Wiley) Stelzer, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. They were married on Dec. 11, 1959. Born in Philadelphia on April 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Herbert F. Stelzer Sr. and Marie (Seyfried) Stelzer. Herbert faithfully served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked in the banking industry for 35 years with the former Philadelphia Saving Fund Society, retiring as Vice President, and later served as CEO of Lehigh Valley Federal Credit Union. Herbert was a devoted member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, where he served as Treasurer of the Holy Name Society and was active with the members’ breakfasts and dinners.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by his children: Carol Anne (Jeffrey A.) Laub of Hellertown; Lisa Marie (Christopher R.) Brundies of Sycamore, Ill.; Herbert F. Stelzer III of Lower Saucon Township; and Kurt M. Stelzer of Hellertown; siblings: Sandra Ann (Joseph) Olesky of Pocono Pines and Marguerite B. (William) Scott of Springfield, Pa.; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister: Elizabeth Altman.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Military honors will conclude services. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
