Peggyann Hoffman (1937 – 2025)

Peggyann Hoffman, 87, of Springfield Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at her residence. Born in Palmerton on Sept. 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph E. and Joyce W. (Blose) Costenbader. Peggy, as her family and friends called her, dedicated her career to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. Upon graduation from St. Luke’s School of Nursing, she became head floor nurse in private care at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. While raising her three small kids she also graduated with honors, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from East Stroudsburg State College. Peggy worked for Northampton Community College as an adjunct professor, worked summers as a home health RN with Quest of Quakertown, and finally retired in 2000 after 26 years of outstanding care to all elementary schools, including St. Jane’s de Chantal, within the Wilson Area School District. Peggy was a Christian woman raising her family in the UCC faith. She was extremely involved as a member of St. John UCC, Riegelsville, where she held the title of Consistory President, among other titles. She was also a friend of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springtown, as she received many prayers, flowers and baked goods. Peggy found great joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel, camping with family and friends, gardening, chatting on the phone, shopping and cheering for Philadelphia sports teams. She enjoyed her gorgeous peony trees and bushes, her ornamental red maple tree, her pool and she cherished all of her pets and the beautiful wildlife of Upper Bucks County.
