Staples Closing, Dollar Tree Opening in Upper Bucks Shopping Center
The saying “when one door closes, another one opens” is particularly relevant and timely at an upper Bucks County Shopping center, where one tenant is closing its doors as another prepares to open them.
Staples in the Richland Marketplace shopping center at Rt. 309 and W. Pumping Station Road in Richland Township is the store that is going out of business.
On Monday, the store’s deeply discounted remaining inventory attracted a steady flow of customers through its doors.
Most of what was left on the store’s shelves was discounted 75 percent, but some items like ink and toner weren’t on sale.
A store associate said the Staples is closing because its lease in the shopping center was bought out. The staff member said she and other employees are transferring to other Staples locations in the area, with most relocating to Telford, which is about 12 miles south of the Richland Township store.

The store’s last day is Oct. 3, and an online auction of fixtures and other items is scheduled for Oct. 9, according to signs displayed in the windows.
Staples is known for its selection of office supplies, office furniture, electronics, copy and print services, and shipping services.
Other locations in the area include stores on Lehigh Street in Allentown and W. Union Boulevard in Bethlehem.

It isn’t all bad news at Richland Marketplace, however. Around the corner from where Staples is closing, a new Dollar Tree store is preparing to open.
Signs in the store’s windows announced open sales associate and management positions, which can be applied to at Careers.dollartree.com.
Saucon Source has contacted Dollar Tree for information about when the new store in Richland Township is expected to open.
The company already has a store in the Quakertown area, which is in the Trainers Station shopping center at Rts. 309 and 663.
Dollar Tree sells a wide variety of inexpensively priced merchandise, including housewares, decorations, cards, gift bags, cleaning products, groceries, snacks, drinks, cosmetics, batteries and clothing.
