Maryanne R. Baus (1949 – 2025)

Maryanne R. Baus, 76, of Center Valley, Pa., passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of Ammon J. Baus, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born on April 29, 1949, in Philadelphia, where she was raised, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Anna E. (Gallagher) Marcelis. A graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School, Maryanne received a lifetime of education in raising her five children; especially her youngest son, who had special needs. She became a skillful advocate, loving caregiver, positive motivator and selflessly devoted mother who truly was a shining example of goodness and compassion. Maryanne devoted 14 years to help educate preschoolers at St. Joseph Preschool and was a faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Coopersburg, Pa. Within her community, Maryanne volunteered with the Caring Hearts and Hands program and fundraising for Mercy School for Special Learning. Maryanne’s favorite times were anything to do with family, especially around the holidays, and being the best Grammy to her 10 grandchildren. She planned countless milestone celebrations for her family and took the time to celebrate the little things in life as well. She loved dancing at large family Christmas parties and encouraged all around her to join in. She is remembered for hosting Thanksgivings and taking a break from cooking to cheerlead the Turkey Bowl in her backyard. She loved family gatherings down the shore at Brigantine and Ocean City and enjoying ice cream on the boardwalk. She was the master teacher in the game of checkers and 500 Rummy to all of her grandkids. Maryanne’s life goals included goals of traveling. She wanted to go to Ireland to trace her family roots and Rome to visit the Vatican and connect to her strong religious beliefs. While life’s demands did not allow her to get to those two places, she did visit Germany and Austria to see her husband-to-be in her younger years, was a frequent visitor to Disney World with her children, and then, her grandchildren, and traveled to California, Connecticut, North Carolina and Virginia to visit her children when they became adults and ventured to Hawaii twice: once for the birth of her first grandchild and again, 20 years later, to enjoy vacation for herself with her husband. While her desire to live to be 100 years old was derailed by her battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Maryanne’s additional plans for living and loving life will proudly be carried on by her family.

SURVIVORS

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband: Ammon; her children: Jennifer (Christopher) O’Hara of Fairfield, Conn., Ammon (Lisa) Baus of Macungie, Pa., Gregory Baus of Vienna, Va., and Marie (Eric) Traceski of Waxhaw, N.C.; along with her 10 cherished grandchildren: Kelsie, Declan, Brendan, Zachary, Sophia, Connor, Cailyn, Avery, Kylie and Delaney. She was predeceased by her son: Christian Baus (Feb. 4, 2021); and her brother: William J.
