Although the weather was cold and blustery, hundreds of residents visited Dimmick Park and the Dewey Fire Co. next door to enjoy festivities marking the start of the holiday season in Hellertown Friday night.

The festivities were part of the annual Light Up Night event sponsored by the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce with support from the borough, the fire company and numerous local businesses.

This year’s event included a holiday market with local craft vendors and a DJ held inside the banquet hall at the fire station–where a Christmas tree sale was also being held–along with food and beverage vendors in the park, wagon rides, live reindeer, crafts, visits by Bluey and Bingo and Mickey and Minnie, kids face painting, games, cookie decorating for kids and musical performances at the park bandshell. The event concluded with the illumination of the borough’s holiday light displays and Santa’s arrival on a decorated vintage fire truck owned by Ron Smith, which was followed by family photo opportunities.
