Joseph B. Nighan (1951 – 2025)

Joseph B. Nighan, 74, of Whitehall, Pa., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 16, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He fought hard and is now at rest. Joe lived a life marked by kindness, strength, a deep love of family and an unwavering work ethic. He will be fondly remembered as ā€œPopā€ to many young people he helped, guided and mentored throughout his life. If you needed a car or anything mechanical repaired, Joe was always ready to help. All you had to do was bring it over to his garage and be willing to work alongside him while he showed you how to fix it. Throughout his life, Joe worked as a master carpenter, a skill passed down through generations from his father and grandfather. He framed thousands of homes throughout the Lehigh Valley for builders including Hobel Enterprise, Titan, International, Hanover Homes, Blue Valley Builders and Anthony Construction, just to name a few. Joe took great pride in his work and especially in working side by side with his son, Daniel, building homes together. When he wasn’t working, Joe could be found saltwater fishing on the Sunny Skies. Fishing was a lifelong passion. In fact, he took his son Justin on his very first fishing trip when Justin was only one week old. This love of fishing became a cherished bond he shared with his son, Justin, and his stepson, Collin Miller. Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Joe is survived by his sons, Daniel and Justin Nighan; his granddaughter, Bella Nighan; his sister, Mary Yaniger; his stepson, Collin Miller; and Terry Nighan, mother of his son, devoted caretaker and lifelong friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Nighan and Louise Pierce.
