Bagel Basket owner Sunny Qureshi told Saucon Source that the business at 1850 Friedensville Road, Hellertown, will reopen June 1 following major renovations and repairs that were necessary after a frozen pipe burst above the eatery, flooding parts of it and causing significant damage in early February.

In addtion to a new look, Bagel Basket will reopen with a new menu featuring Mexican cuisine–including tacos, burritos, tortas, nachos and quesadillas–as well as new sandwiches.

In addition to its signature large variety of freshly-made bagels and flavored cream cheese, Bagel Basket’s menu also features deli sandwiches, hot sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, salads, soup, cold drinks, hot and iced coffee and other items. Qureshi noted that the My Diya sandwich named after his daughter, and made with breaded chicken on ciabatta bread with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella and balsamic, is a menu favorite.

The eatery–which is popular both with Hellertown area residents and Lehigh students who live nearby–will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Qureshi said.

Located near the entrance to Society Hill, both inside and outside seating are available in the summer.

Bagel Basket’s full menu is available at Bagelbasketbethlehem.com, and Qureshi said order placement via popular delivery apps like Grubhub and Doordash will be available by mid-June.

Qureshi–who has always been active in supporting the community as a business owner–noted that in addition to the reopening, Bagel Basket will be celebrating its 15th anniversary with customers in July.

More information is available via the Bagel Basket website or by calling 610-838-6667.

Bagel Basket’s bagel bins will soon be overflowing with freshly-made, warm bagels. The eatery is a popular breakfast and lunch stop for many local residents, as well as Lehigh students, due to its proximity to the university’s sprawling campus.
Many of the major systems as well as flooring and the ceiling in Bagel Basket have been replaced and upgraded since February, when the restaurant was damaged by water that flooded it from a burst pipe.
Bagels that will soon be cooked and in the hands of hungry customers are being prepped for what is likely to be a very busy reopening day.
The coffee bar and drink coolers at Bagel Basket are being restocked and will be ready for thirsty customers on Monday, June 1, when the business reopens.
