New Hellertown Laundromat Offers Savings, Convenience

A new laundromat is wowing Hellertown area residents with its spaciousness, top-of-the-line equipment and convenient location.

Hellertown Laundromat opened Saturday in the Shoppes at Hellertown on Main Street. Located in a unit that was last home to a dry cleaning business, the laundromat is owned by Kyle Behmlander, who also operates laundromats in Lower Saucon Township, Bethlehem, Fountain Hill and Quakertown.

Behmlander, who lives in Center Valley, said he began renovations to the space nearly a year ago. In the interim, he opened Quakertown Laundromat and renovated the Broadway Laundromat he owns in Fountain Hill, which extended the timeline for opening his newest location.

Hellertown Laundromat is a brand new full-service laundromat featuring Speed Queen washers and dryers, custom-built stainless steel tables, an automatic door and other amenities carefully chosen to help make one of life’s most common chores a little bit easier for customers.

In the end, the wait was worth it, as customers can now enjoy a large, modern facility outfitted with the latest app-supported Speed Queen washers and dryers. All of the machines also accept coins and tokens, which can be purchased from a machine on-site. A vending machine that’s fully stocked with dryer sheets, detergent, snacks and more is also located inside the laundromat.

Large, custom-built stainless steel tables are available for folding clothes and there are plenty of trolleys for moving laundry from one machine to another.

“There’s plenty of room to dance,” said Behmlander, who remodeled the unit with his father, Steve Behmlander. He also credited his friend and mentor, Alan Bitner, for his customer service management at the other laundromats he operates while the renovations were in progress.

“I was very blessed to have Alan handle that,” he said.

Along with the other four locations, Hellertown Laundromat features machines that can be operated by downloading the free Speed Queen app for Android and iPhone. Customers who create an account using the location code HELLER receive a $5 instant sign-up bonus and start earning points toward future rewards. Every $50 loaded onto the app gets customers a $5 bonus, and double rewards are offered every Wednesday and Thursday.

Hellertown Laundromat was designed with customers fully in mind, and as such it features more large-capacity washing machines and dryers than most facilities in the area. The laundromat also has an automatic door, so coming and going is a breeze for customers who may be carrying large laundry bags.

“It’s very rewarding now that it’s complete,” said Behmlander. “Everyone thinks their baby is cute, but I think this is the nicest laundromat in the Lehigh Valley.”
