Esther M. (Pietrouchie) Shoemaker, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. She was the devoted and beloved wife of George J. Shoemaker, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Bethlehem, Esther was the cherished daughter of the late Leo M. and Dorothy A. (Space) Pietrouchie. Esther dedicated her professional life to health and wellness as a Certified Personal Trainer and owner of Fit Aerobics in Bethlehem. Her passion for exercise and nutrition inspired many in her community to live healthier lives. Beyond her work in fitness, Esther had a deep love for animals and was a passionate advocate for dog therapy fundraisers, cancer support organizations, supporting programs that brought comfort and joy to individuals with special needs and beyond.
SURVIVORS
In addition to her loving husband, George, she is survived by: canine companion: Carlie;Ā brothers: Joseph W. Pietrouchie and his wife, Nancy, of Coplay, Leo Michael Pietrouchie of Bethlehem; sister-in-law: Yvonne Pietrouchie of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews: Michelle Pietrouchie-Summers and her husband, Robert, of Bethlehem, Kelly Toth and her husband, Michael, of Schnecksville, Katie Pietrouchie and her partner, Jomo Burton, of Allentown, Harry Pietrouchie and his wife, Amy, of Bethlehem; great-nieces: Alexa and Madison Summers; along with seven additional loving great-nieces and great-nephews.Ā She was predeceased by her brother: Carl H. Pietrouchie; and her beloved dogs: Hank and Bella.
SERVICES
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.
