Edward T. Cannon, 81, Formerly of Hellertown (OBITUARY)
Edward T. Cannon, 81, formerly of Hellertown, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. Luke’s University Hospital-Allentown Campus. He was the husband of the late Joan M. (McCue) Cannon (died Jan. 17, 1997). He was born in Elkton, Md., on Oct. 14, 1933 to the late Irvin and Edna (Clark) Cannon. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ed was a re-weaver for men’s clothes at the former Phoenix Clothes until retiring. He was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, Hellertown, where he was a Past Senior Warden, Youth Group Leader and served in the life of the church. He was also a member of Dewey Fire Co. and a former member of the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, both of Hellertown.
SURVIVORS
Children: Jane E. Johnson of Allentown, Cathleen M. (Rev. Michael) Eck of Lavelle, David L. (Joanne) of Hellertown; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter: Cynthia L. Messics-Cannon; grandaughter: Dawn Cannon; and seven siblings.
SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 735 Delaware Ave., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 3 p.m. The interment will conclude services at St. George’s Memorial Garden.
