Child Protection Law Seminar Scheduled

State Rep. Justin Simmons (R-131) will host a seminar about Pennsylvania’s new child protection laws–including Act 31–on Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m. in the DeSales University Hurd Room, 2775 Station Ave., Center Valley.

Anyone who volunteers or works with children is invited to attend, Simmons said in his weekly newsletter.

“Representatives from the Department of Human Services will be on hand to explain the changes and provide recommendations on how to best comply with them,” the newsletter brief said. “With the passage of Act 31, many adults who volunteer or work with children are now required to obtain a criminal background check and child abuse clearances, in addition to reporting suspected child abuse to the proper authorities to avoid facing criminal prosecution.”

To reserve a seat for the seminar, contact Dustan Raines in Simmons’ Emmaus district office by calling 610-965-5830 or by email at draines@pahousegop.com.
