Oh Deer. Driver Unhurt After Striking Animal on I-78 On-ramp, Police Say.
A New Jersey driver and his passenger were unhurt in an accident involving a deer on an I-78 on-ramp, state police at Belfast said Friday.
According to a news release from the barracks, the crash occurred in Lower Saucon Township on a portion of the eastbound on-ramp from Rt. 412, which is part of the Hellertown/Bethlehem interchange (Exit 67).
Police said the 40-year-old Garwood, Union County, man was “traveling on the ramp towards I-78 east when a deer ran directly across the ramp and (into his) path.” They said the accident happened around 9:45 p.m. Aug. 10.
The car’s collision with the animal disabled it and killed the deer, which police said was found dead in a nearby wooded area.
Police said the 2013 Infiniti JX35 was towed from the crash scene.
