Edward S. Michaylira (1945 – 2026)

Edward S. Michaylira, 80, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026 at the Hospice House at St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was the beloved husband of Anita D. (Dominguez) Michaylira, with whom he shared 52 loving years of marriage. Edward was born in New York City, N.Y., on May 22, 1945, to the late Michael and Marie (Pelzman) Michaylira. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. He was a 1964 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, and was employed for many years as a welder at Bethlehem Steel, retiring in 1997. Following his retirement, Edward continued his passion for teaching as a CDL Instructor at Saucon Valley High School. Edward was a devoted member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Hellertown, where he was also a member of the choir. He was deeply devoted to his family and his faith. He enjoyed oldies music, weightlifting and running, and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who meant everything to him. Edward also had a special love for his puppies, Honey Bee and Sammy.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife, Anita, Edward is survived by his sons, Mark Edward Michaylira (Tevis R. Houston) of Long Beach, Calif., and David Christopher Michaylira (Carmen Z.) of Center Valley; his sister, Rose Miletech of Long Island, N.Y.; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Natalie and Miles. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Stephen and Michael Michaylira.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown, Pa. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be at The Union Cemetery of Hellertown. A funeral repast will be held at The Carriage House at Heintzelman’s immediately following the graveside service.
