Cecil G. Modzel (1942 – 2026)

Cecil G. Modzel, 83, of Springfield Township, Bucks County, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. He was the beloved husband of Diane R. (Buck) Modzel, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Munson, Pa., on July 22, 1942, Cecil was the son of the late Gustav Modzel and Loretta (Hemmis) Godshall. A dedicated professional in the transportation industry, Cecil spent 20 years as a truck driver for Dan Schantz Greenhouse. Throughout his career, he also drove for Laminated Glass in Telford and Landis Bulk Carrier. Outside of work, Cecil found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly tending to his vegetable garden and enjoying trips to the casino. He was an active member of the North Penn Gun Club in Sellersville, the American Legion and the Morwood Gun Club.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife, Cecil is survived by his children: Thomas Modzel (Donna Frazone) of Conshohocken, Donna Taylor (Ray) of Perkasie, Bart Crumbach (Carrie) of Coopersburg; niece: Tammy Riegel, and many other nieces and nephews; sister: Esther Fink of Brookville; grandchildren: Jennifer, Eric, Tom Jr., Brandi, Erika, Chantel, Amber, Evan, Rob, Matt and Nick; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his children, Patricia Kramer and James Crumbach, and his brothers, Fred and Bob.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 12 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. A funeral repast will be held at the Carriage House at Heintzelmans immediately following the service.
