Bethlehem Receives $2.9 Million for Food Co-op Grocery Store

Exciting news came earlier this week related to the local fight against food insecurity, when Rep. Susan Wild (D-7) announced Tuesday that the City of Bethlehem had secured a $2.9 million grant for the construction of the Bethlehem Food Co-op’s community-owned grocery store at 250 E. Broad Street.

After discussing concerns about emergency vehicle access and whether or not all the neighbors on the street would be willing to give up access to their properties for a period of time, Hellertown Borough Council unanimously approved a resident’s request to hold a block party in the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue in mid-June.
