The growing pains of the Saucon Valley girls basketball team continue. Once again the Lady Panthers found themselves stumbling out of the gate and trying to gain traction in a Colonial League game. Maybe it was the extended holiday break or maybe it was the quickness and speed of the Salisbury Falcons. Whatever the reason, the early deficit was just too much for these young Panthers to overcome.
Tuesday night there were 18 minutes of Saucon v. Salisbury wrestling in which there was roughly only eight minutes of actual wrestling action that included four lethal Saucon cement-jobs. It all added up to a Saucon Valley 81-0 win over Salisbury.
If Saturday's scrimmage was any indication, the Saucon Boys Basketball team will have a very successful season this year.
The Saucon boys soccer team fought hard against the Salisbury Falcons at Palisades Tuesday night, but were unable to score a goal against the opposing squad, losing 3-0.

With just over a week remaining in the Colonial League regular season, todays showdown between the Saucon Valley Panthers and Salisbury Falcons has major significance. The Falcons are currently sitting at the top of the Colonial League standings with a 6-0-1 league record. The Panthers are prowling in their shadow at 6-1.
It was a less than desirable start for the Saucon Valley Panthers on Friday night. But the team stayed calm and maintained their poise to withstand the early Salisbury pressure and eventually prevail with a lopsided 39-15 victory.
Friday night lights will surely be shining bright in Salisbury Township when the Saucon Valley Panthers compete for this season’s Colonial League opener. A week 1 match-up rarely gets better than this as both teams have an extraordinary amount of talent and skill. Each team is also part of the preseason championship chatter. Last year Saucon won 39-36 with Salisbury scoring 22 fourth quarter points. Tomorrow night will likely be another shootout with the winner claiming the inside track to the 2015 Colonial League title.
