News first broke that the landmark Main Street restaurant/bar was up for sale in March, as the Mateys plan to retire.

“Owned and operated by the Ray Matey family for +/- 63 years, included in the sale is the adjoining Diehl Alley property as well as a portion (i.e. parking) of 28 E. High Street, both to the rear of the property,” a commercial listing on the Greater Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors’ MLS website indicates. “Also included is all furniture, fixtures, equipment, the Northampton County PALCB H (liquor) license, and other assets right down to the Matey’s family recipes! Excluded is the ‘Matey’s’ name and all inventory, which can be purchased separately at settlement.”

The three-story hotel building is 11,563 square feet and was built in 1900, according to the listing, which it states is provided courtesy of Veraxia Commercial Real Estate Solutions.

The listing agent is Shawn M. Donahue.

Total 2016 taxes for the property are $12,074, according to the listing.

Matey’s is renowned throughout the area for its vintage atmosphere and pizza and cheesesteaks, which many long-time patrons regard as a true “taste of Hellertown.”

Crossroads Hotel is located at 1439 Main St., Hellertown, Pa.
