Township Eatery Target of Phone Scam, Police Say

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A Subway restaurant in Lower Saucon Township was the target of a scammer claiming to be a representative for an electric company, township police said in a news release Thursday.

According to police, the Subway in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Leithsville Road received a call Wednesday morning from a man with “an accent” who requested “payment over the phone or the electricity would be turned off in half an hour.”

“The male was calling from a 1-800 number and never identified himself as PP&L–just the electric company,” police said.

Anyone with information about the attempted scam should contact township police at 610-317-6110.
