Potential for Light Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain Tuesday, NWS Says

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain that will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday. According to the weather service, “snow and sleet will begin by early afternoon…then mix with freezing rain later in the afternoon into this evening.” The combination is expected to create slippery conditions throughout the evening.

Although Monday was mild, winter is expected to make a return on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service Monday afternoon issued a Hazardous Weather Statement for the Lehigh Valley, in which it warned of the “potential for a light accumulation of snow and sleet on Tuesday followed by the possibility of freezing rain on Tuesday night.”

The NWS added that areas at higher elevations are expected to be most impacted by the frozen precipitation.

Although Monday’s high temperature was well into the 50s, the high temperature Tuesday is forecast to be just 35 degrees. On Wednesday, the weather service predicts, highs will rebound into the upper 40s.
