The RadioShack store in the Saucon Square shopping center on Rt. 378 in Lower Saucon Township is one of eight RadioShacks in the Lehigh Valley that are closing, according to published reports.

RadioShack is a national purveyor of electronics based in Fort Worth, Texas. Last week the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to media reports.

The closure of the Lower Saucon RadioShack was confirmed early Tuesday by large “Store Closing” and “Entire Store on Sale!” signs that are hung in its windows.

It also comes in the midst of a retail revival of sorts in the shopping center, where several new businesses including Dollar Tree, Maxx Fitness and Chaar–a pet supplies store–have opened within the last six months.

A new bar/restaurant, Taps Tavern, is slated to open at Saucon Square on Feb. 16.
