NY Man Cashed Bad Check at Store, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say a Bronx, N.Y., man has been charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and bad checks, after he allegedly cashed a fraudulent cashier’s check at Giant Food Store, 1880 Leithsville Road, on Jan. 27.

In a news release issued Thursday, police said Woodley Desir, 33, of the 1600 block of Macombs Road, admitted in an interview at police headquarters Wednesday that the check he cashed was bad.

Police did not specify the amount of the allegedly bad check.

They said Desir was arrested Wednesday and later committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 secured bail.
