Saucon Valley Youth Lacrosse Kicks Off NCAA-Style

Tuesday was a cold, blustery night, but that did not stop Coach Joe Aquino’s Saucon Valley Youth U-11 lacrosse team from holding an intra-squad scrimmage during halftime of the NCAA showdown between the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks and the sixth-ranked Denver Pioneers.

It was a great opportunity for the Lehigh men’s team to make some noise and garner some national recognition. However, after jumping out to an energized 3-0 lead, Lehigh faded and eventually fell to the nationally-ranked Pioneers, 10-4.

It was also a great opportunity for the 36 youngsters on Saucon Valley’s U-11 boys LAX team and their coaches to get out onto the frozen turf of the Ulrich Sports Complex and put on a halftime show for the hometown Lehigh crowd. Keeping the shivering spectators entertained during the break, the Saucon Valley boys were, of course, the winners!

Following the boys’ annual “Spring Thaw” tournament at Owen J. Roberts High School this coming weekend, Saucon Valley Boys and Girls begin their youth seasons in the Lehigh Valley Youth Lacrosse League with games starting the weekend of March 28.

Good luck to all of the Saucon Valley teams!
