I would like to formally announce my candidacy for Hellertown Borough Council.
Appointed to Council to fill the vacancy left by Gail Nolf in July of 2014, I have had but a short time to serve the residents of Hellertown. In that time, I have advocated for the Hellertown community by taking an active role to remain “agenda free.”
Too often, officials new to any governing body take up personal interests and agendas to promote via the budget or general policy. These allegiances do not look out for the best interests of the taxpayer or the greater community.
In my short time on council, I have taken opportunities to hear the arguments of every proposal and investigate their merit on an individual basis; meeting with the involved parties and doing additional research to make commonsense, well thought out decisions. Whether it be local business owners, charitable and community organizations, or the (Rt.) 412 Widening Project, I have dedicated myself to keeping the overall best interest of Hellertown as my sole agenda.
Born and raised in Hellertown, I believe the greatest strength of the Borough is in its small community personality. In order to preserve Hellertown as one of the Lehigh Valley’s great small communities in which to live, council must proactively look to and budget for the future. Only when council plans for future purchases and budgetary fluctuations can taxes remain stable, which, in turn, promotes a better quality of life for all residents and business owners.
