John F. Messics, 87, of Bethlehem (OBITUARY)

John F. Messics, 87, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Marion E. (Faust) Messics. He was born in Bethlehem on Nov. 7, 1927 to the late Frank G. and Anna (Magyarics) Messics. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. John worked for the former Miller Wholesale Paper Co. in Bethlehem for 42 years before retiring in 1988. In retirement years, he was a driver for Country Meadows, Bethlehem. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years; daughter: Debra A. Elliott McNelis and her husband Gerald L. of Bethlehem; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter: Linda D. Cline (died Feb. 11, 1992); and siblings: Charles, Frank, Ernest Messics, Julie Ortwein and Theresa Barone.

SERVICE

A private service will be held at Washington Crossings National Cemetery, Newtown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
