Richard S. Whited, 81, of Hellertown, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Luke’s VNA Hospice, Bethlehem.Whited, Richard (1) He was the husband of his beloved wife Shirley A. (Derrico), who passed away in 2000. Richard was born in Somerville, N.J., on Nov.  24, 1933 to the late James Whited and Grace (Edmonds) MacCombie. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during peacetime. Richard worked as a bricklayer/foreman for C.B. Haney Inc., Bethlehem and Vobuco Inc. of Alpha, N.J., for 42 years. He graduated from Lehigh University with the “Class of 1956.” He served as a former treasurer of Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association. He was a member of Springfield Township Historical Society and a past president of Springfield Township Lions Club. He also served from 1977-1983 on the Palisades School Board.

SURVIVORS

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Jess Whited (Laura) of N. Yarmouth, Maine and Lynn Gruber (Thomas) of Marshall, Michigan; grandchildren: Eric, Matthew, James and Emma; companion: Sallie Woodring of Nazareth; and former wife Ursula S. (Bernstein) of Hellertown. Richard was predeceased by a brother: Clarence MacCombie.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township.
