A Hellertown man who was cutting a relative’s grass Friday afternoon suffered minor injuries when the riding mower he was on was struck by a car in the 2700 block of Wassergass Road near Kally Ridge Road, Lower Saucon Township Police said Monday.
According to police, Tony Chavar, of the 2400 block of Cherry Lane, entered the roadway with the mower around 2 p.m. and was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Andrew B. Panick Jr., of the 100 block of Kristin Place, Lower Saucon Township.
Police said Chavar was thrown from the mower and was later taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill for treatment.
Chavar will be cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic before entering or crossing a roadway, police said.
They added that Panick was uninjured, but said his vehicle suffered “heavy front end damage” and had to be towed from the scene.
