A medical emergency involving an injured bicyclist necessitated a response Thursday by police and other officials to “the Narrows”–a closed section of Riverside Drive–Lower Saucon Township Police said Friday in a news release.

According to police, Lincoln Steward, of Nazareth, was riding along the closed roadway when he attempted to traverse a “large hole” that is currently under repair.

“In the process of doing so he fell down the side of the cliff” and landed near the railroad tracks that parallel the road, police said.

When responders arrived, they discovered that Steward had suffered a large cut on his forearm and was complaining of rib pain, police added.

After Steel City Fire Department’s Fire and Rescue personnel responded with their ATV, police said Steward was taken out of the Narrows to a Dewey ambulance, and then to a local hospital.
