A Lower Saucon Township man is accused of running a fraud scheme which federal authorities say allowed him to scam more than $1.8 million from his former employer, the well-known West Chester-based home-shopping network QVC, according to an article published by the Express-Times Thursday.
The report says that according to an indictment filed last week by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, 58-year-old Douglas S. Rae–who is charged with numerous counts of mail fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and money laundering–was managing the television network’s lighting department when he allegedly concocted fraudulent invoices from companies under his control for goods that were never delivered.
According to a Philly.com story about the case, Rae was employed by QVC from 1997 to May 2013 and was assisted in the alleged scam by John R. Hodde, 53, of Aubrey, Tex., and Michael H. Keppler, 58, of Ridgewood, N.J., both of whom are also now facing charges.
Rae could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, fined $8.75 million and ordered to pay full restitution if convicted, the Philly.com story states.
