In Friday night’s thrilling victory over Notre Dame-Green Pond, Saucon senior quarterback Zach Thatcher had one of his best games leading the Panthers offense. Rushing the football, he ran the ball 16 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Zach also threw for 86 yards and hooked up with Alstan Wolfe for the game-winning touchdown with less than a minute remaining. The Panthers have one more regular season opponent in rival Palisades. Go win that trophy, boys!
Notable Achievements:
Cross country runner Kiele Riefenstahl is the 2015 Girls District 11 Champion! She did it by completed the 5K course in 19:55, beating the second place finisher by 10 seconds. Winning this event has qualified her for the state championship, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Hershey’s Parkview Cross Country course. Good luck this weekend!
The girls soccer team’s season has come to an end, but not without two of their players gaining some recognition. Lauren Binn and Paige Jones were named to the 2015 All-State Girls Soccer Team! This may be the first time in Saucon’s history that a pair of teammates made the all-state team in the same season. Congratulations to these two girls for not only having a tremendous season, but also a stellar career in a Saucon Valley uniform.
Senior running back Evan Culver ran his way into the record books last Friday night. Evan turned in another 200+ yard game running the football, and in doing so, passed former player of the year Nick Savant on the all-time rushing list. Evan now sits atop that list with 3,814 career rushing yards!
