Note: The following information about the LIHEAP energy assistance program was provided by UGI in a recent customer newsletter. More information about the LIHEAP program offered by PPL can be found here.

Pennsylvania’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible energy consumers pay their heating bills through energy assistance grants. Free grants are available to aid qualifying customers, who do not need to have an unpaid bill to qualify but must meet certain income eligibility requirements (see below).

LIHEAP offers funding in the form of both CASH and CRISIS grants.

CASH: A grant that is sent directly to your heating provider to be applied to your account. The minimum grant is $100 and the maximum grant is $1,000.

CRISIS: A customer should apply for a crisis grant if they are without heat due to terminated utility service or equipment problems, or if they’re at risk of losing their heat. The minimum grant is $25 and the maximum grant is $500.

The 2015-16 LIHEAP program runs from Nov. 2, 2015 through April 1, 2016.

If you are interested in applying for LIHEAP please contact UGI at 1-800-844-9276 and an application will be mailed to you.

You can also apply online or get additional information about other customer assistance programs.
