Bright Lane

Firefighters were reportedly battling a chimney fire at 1910 Bright Lane off Apples Church Road in Lower Saucon Township shortly after midnight Wednesday.

According to an update posted on the Newsworking Facebook page, at 12:30 p.m. the fire was reported to have spread and was “running the walls and ceilings” at the home.

Fire command was requesting ATVs to help transport firefighters to the scene of the blaze “due to (the) dwelling being situated up a long narrow driveway into woods,” the Newsworking post indicated.

By 1:15 a.m. the fire was reportedly being brought under control.

A reader who is acquainted with the family who lives in the home told Saucon Source she had spoken to them and they confirmed they’d all made it out safely.

Residents from one end of Hellertown to the other as well as residents from surrounding parts of Lower Saucon Township were reporting continuous sirens as many volunteers from the local fire companies raced to the scene of the blaze.
