Dewey Carnival to Open Tuesday

With sultry heat in place and the chance of a thunderstorm, the annual Dewey Fire Co. Carnival will open in Hellertown Tuesday. The five-day event in Dimmick Park will feature rides, games, concessions, music, a fireworks show and more.

According to the fire company, First Responder Night will be held Tuesday, Car Night will be Wednesday (with a rain date of Thursday) and the fireworks show is scheduled for Friday evening, with a rain date of Saturday. The latest National Weather Service forecast for the Hellertown area includes a chance of showers and/or thunderstorms every day this week.

According to information posted on the Dewey Fire Co. Annual Carnival Facebook page last week, the popular wristband nights–when kids who buy wristbands can go on limitless rides for a flat price–are likely to be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. The organizer who commented with that information said it would be confirmed later in a separate post.

The organizer also said that bingo won’t be held this year due to a lack of volunteers.

In addition to Friday night’s fireworks show, there will be a performance by the band Triple Dog Dare that evening.

This year the fire company issued an appeal to help fundraise money to pay for the fireworks, which are a carnival tradition in Hellertown.

The carnival will open at 6 p.m. each night.
