A Lower Saucon Township man’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was allegedly more than three times the legal limit when police say he backed onto Rt. 378 from E. University Avenue Dec. 13.

In a news release, police said Robert Ridgick, 68, of the 1400 block of E. University Avenue, was turning onto his street when he nearly hit an embankment shortly after 1 a.m.

Ridgick “then backed out onto Rt. 378 in traffic and continued onto E. University Ave.,” where he was stopped at Camac Avenue, police said.

He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the DUI center, where police said his BAC was determined to be .25 percent.

The legal limit for most motorists in Pennsylvania is .08 percent.

Police said Ridgick has been charged with DUI as well as backing and traffic lane violations.
