Joseph J. Kach Sr., 89, of Hellertown, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill, Easton.

Joseph J. Kach Sr., 89, of Hellertown, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill, Easton.kach.joseph J. sr, picture He was the husband of Rosemarie B. (Burda) Kach. He was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on July 3, 1926 to the late Joseph and Anna (Lechman) Kach. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His employment included: draftsman at Bethlehem Steel for 11 years, teacher at Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech for 10 years, administrator at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology for six years, and assistant principal at Lehigh County Technical Institute for 12 years. He was a faithful member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, where he was a member of its St. Vincent DePaul and Holy Name societies, as well as its Ushers and Altar servers. He was a member of Hellertown Historical Society, the Hellertown & Pennsylvania American legions and Lehigh South Side Boosters. He helped construct the Hellertown Area Library and helped refurbish the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill and the Pony Bridge. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Tech High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Temple University, Philadelphia, and a Master’s Degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years; children: Barbara A. Hoffman of Concord, N.C., JoAnn M. Knerr (James) of Emmaus, Loretta J. Bilous (Paul) of Catasauqua, Stephen J. (Kathleen) Kach of Hanover Township, Joseph J. (Suzy) Kach of Florida; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister: Irene Krafty.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
