The Hellertown Area Library is currently seeking proposals (due by March 1, 2016) from artists willing to design and create a mural or a series of murals in the newly-renovated library.
Artists are invited to visit the library at 409 Constitution Ave., Hellertown, prior to submittal of proposal to view wall spaces that are available for mural installation.

The Award
A maximum commission of $1,000 will be awarded to the artist selected to realize his/her work.
Project Intent
The project’s intent is to enhance the newly renovated library with a mural that draws on the influence of children’s literature, reflects on the natural environment and/or highlights the spirit of the Hellertown Area Library community.
The Mural Project is to be completed by Aug. 31, 2016. Artists should include a timeline with their proposal.
Proposal Requirements
- The component of having the youth of the library participate in the artistic process is encouraged; the exact way they are involved is up to the artist to propose, for example:
- Workshops led by the artist
- Include children in the creation of the mural
How to Apply
Artists interested in this project must prepare and submit the following:
- Proposed artwork sufficient to communicate the artist’s concept.
- A letter which explains their interest in working with the Hellertown Area Library and its community (no more than one page long).
- A professional resume and/or samples of previous work.
Materials must be received by the Hellertown Area Library by 5 p.m. on March 1, 2016. Hand deliveries will be accepted. The format for submittal is up to the artist.
