Rev. Gerald A. Reiss, 83, of Hellertown, died Jan. 30, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Page0002He was the husband of Dorothy S. (Spisak). Gerald was born in Bethlehem on April 21, 1932 to the late Elmer J. and Anna (Falvello). Gerald served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1954 and later graduated from Berkeley at Yale Divinity School in 1960. Upon graduation, his first assignment in 1960 was serving two parishes as Vicar: Christ Church, Frackville, and St. James, Schuylkill Haven. He served as an assistant at Trinity Episcopal, Bethlehem. Fr. Reiss was called to be the Vicar at St. Peters, Clarksboro, N.J., and St. Stephens, Mullica Hill, N.J., eventually becoming full-time Rector at St. Peters until retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Paulsboro Masonic Lodge (N.J.).

SURVIVORS

In addition to his wife of 61 years, sons: Duane R. (Lisa) Reiss of Harleysville, Gary J. (Joanne) Reiss of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren: Brooke, Joshua, Glenn, Christine and Trevor; great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Cole and Joelle; and godchild: Jayne Fenstermacher.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 25th and Livingston streets, Allentown, PA 18104.
