A Hellertown woman was arrested for DUI shortly after midnight Jan. 30, police said, after a witness allegedly spotted her driving recklessly on Saucon Valley, Bingen and Friedensville roads and followed her to Front Street in Hellertown before providing police with a statement.

Police said the witness statement described the driver’s “inability to travel within a single lane among other actions, which led the witness to believe the operator was under the influence.”

The driver, Rhonda Beatty, of the 200 block of Main Street, had “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” about her, failed field sobriety tests and exhibited other signs of impairment, police said.

Her blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be .15 percent, which is nearly twice the legal limit, they added.
