Social Media Post About ‘School Shooting’ Lands Student, 17, in Hot Water, Police Say

A social media post referencing a “school shooting” resulted in a citation for disorderly conduct for a 17-year-old Saucon Valley High School student from Hellertown, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Friday.

A social media post referencing a “school shooting” resulted in a citation for disorderly conduct for a 17-year-old Saucon Valley High School student from Hellertown, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Friday.

According to police, the Feb. 11 post consisted of a photo of the boy with other students and a caption that read “school shooting inbound.”

“The juvenile was spoken to with a guardian present and officers learned that the individual posted the picture and caption as a ‘form of a joke referencing hip hop culture,'” police said.

He also said the post “was only viewable by ‘four or five other people’ and (was) not intended for a larger audience,” they added.
